Back Bay

Back Bay property for sale is listed below. The property listings populate from the Boston multiple listing service (MLS) on a continual basis, so the real estate listings here are always the most up-to-date available.

Back Bay has a couple of different areas, each offering their own unique type of real estate. Back Bay Proper, which is the area that looks like a grid on a map, consists of Victorian brownstones. Most of these buildings have been converted into condos, but some of these mansions are available for sale as single family homes or multi-family investment properties.

Off the grid of Back Bay Proper is where you will find more modern construction luxury buildings such as The Clarendon / One Back Bay, Bryant Back Bay, the Belvedere Condos, the Albert A. Pope Building, 285 Columbus Lofts, and Trinity Place.

Exceptions to this rule do exist and you will find brownstones along St. Botolph, which is off the grid, and new luxury boutique buildings such as Zero Marlborough, 755 Boylston, 360 Newbury, and The Meads on the grid. And the crown jewel of Boston’s luxury buildings is the Mandarin Oriental, is found on the grid (even though it is the more commercial Boylston Street).

When people think of Back Bay, the residential streets of Commonwealth Avenue, Marlborough Street, and Beacon Street are the first to come to mind, but Back Bay is much more than those three streets. Back Bay is bordered to the North by the Charles River and Esplanade, to the West by Charlesgate and the Fens, the Southwest Corridor and Columbus Ave to the South, and Arlington Street and the Public Gardens to the East.
