Beacon Hill real estate is almost exclusively found in the form of brownstone buildings. The largest of these properties are found on Mt. Vernon Street and Beacon Street, but the most prestigious address in the neighborhood (and all of Boston according to some) is Louisburg Square. Some Beacon Hill real estate has been converted into condos, while other buildings are maintained as single family homes or as multi-family investment property.
Beacon Hill is divided into three main sections: the South Slope, the Back of the Hill, and the Flat of the Hill. The Back of the Hill has a larger concentration of condos and multi-family investment property than the other two sections, while single family homes and mansions are found on the South Slope and Flat of the Hill.
Beacon Hill is bordered to the East by Government Center, to the North by Cambridge Street and the MGH (Massachusetts General Hospital) complex, to the West by the Esplanade and the Charles River, to the South by Beacon Street, Boston Common and the Public Garden.
