Charlestown

This iconic neighborhood is quite similar to Boston’s Beacon Hill, Back Bay and South End neighborhoods in terms of architecture and style while retaining it’s own cultural heritage. Charlestown’s roots date back to its settlement in 1628. This early start has given it a charming gaslit ambiance that is appealing to young professionals who have recently moved to the neighborhood, joining families who have lived in Charlestown for generations. This makes the community a unique blend of new and old, traditional and forward thinking.

Known for its traditional colonial architecture, Charlestown’s streets are lined with townhouses, newly construction condominiums and historic homes that have been converted over the years. The Navy Yard and the adjacent harborfront are also home to many luxury condominiums

There have been numerous filling operations that have expanded the areas around Charlestown, much like Boston’s Back Bay and Fenway neighborhoods. The northern end of Boston’s Freedom Trail can be found in Charlestown and include many important Boston landmarks.
