Leather District
The Leather District is officially considered by the city of Boston to be part of the Chinatown neighborhood. Regardless, many Bostonians consider this small two block neighborhood its own distinct neighborhood due to the unique architecture and historic homes.
Like the namesake suggests, The Leather District was once a thriving commercial area specializing in leather production and was home to numerous tanneries. While these businesses have long departed, they have left behind many historic, bold commercial spaces and warehouses that have over the years been converted into trendy, high end lofts and condominiums with soaring ceilings, exposed brick and 21st century style open floor plans.
The Leather District is an excellent community for those who enjoy city life and wish to have easy access to Downtown Boston.
