Referred to as “Southie” by residents, this large and diverse neighborhood boasts miles of beaches and waterfront parks that culminate in Castle Island with it’s historic Revolutionary era fort. Located south and east of the Fort Point Channel and abutting Dorchester Bay it is one of the oldest and most historic neighborhoods in the United States. South Boston contains Dorchester Heights, where George Washington forced British troops to evacuate during the American Revolutionary War.
